Spring Tails @ Wildlife Rescue Center

SPRING TAILS

Cost: Free with an item from the Baby Shower Wish List. 

Reserve your time here. Spots are limited, so hurry for this wildly popular event! 

Hop, waddle, and flap your way to Spring Tails at the Wildlife Rescue Center.
Learn about sharing your backyard with nature's families, meet domestic rabbits, and support the wild babies in care. Get ready for baby season 2017 at this festival-style event that runs from 11am to 4pm, on Sunday April 9th.

  • Peek behind-the-scenes at the largest of a wildlife rehabilitation center in the St. Louis region
  • Try your hand at crafts using garden-grown dyes and play games all about wild moms
  • Take a photo with our one-of-a-kind, naturally-inspired Ambassador Cottontail
  • Participate in a Natural Treasures Hunt on our trail and follow clues to amazing nature finds
  • Have an up-close critter encounter with a professional pet rabbit and learn from volunteers and staff that care for orphaned and injured native wild animals
  • Get the word on birds with educators from Wild Bird Rehabilitation

The Wildlife Rescue Center treats over 2,500 wild animals every year. Most of the animals admitted for rehabilitation have been injured or orphaned by human activity. The Center is able to provide its services of rescue, rehabilitation, and release thanks to the support of our compassionate community. Through nature inspired education programs, the Center promotes environmental awareness and encourages the protection of our delicate ecosystems.

  • Relax and grab a bite from Wayno's Mobile International Cuisine from 11am-1pm

The Wildlife Rescue Center treats over two thousand injured or orphaned wild animals every year. More than eighty percent of patients treated are admitted due to an incident that is directly or indirectly human-caused. Through nature inspired education programs, the Center promotes environmental awareness and encourages the protection of our delicate ecosystems.

Volunteers from Wild Bird Rehabilitation will read a book about a young pigeon who makes every excuse in the world for why he doesn't need to go to bed. The name of the book is Don't Let the Pigeon Stay UP Late! 

The author and illustrator, Mo Willems, is a number-one New York Times best-selling author who has been awarded three Caldecott Honors, two Theodor Seuss Geisel Medals, and four Geisel Honors.

WBR's story teller is Sue Kotar, published author and the author of the highest ranked Gunsmoke ever.

Children will also learn how to make nestling baskets. We make and use thousands of these baskets for the babies (nestlings) who come to WBR.

The Katherine Dunham Children’s Workshop directed by Ruby Streate will begin the program followed by students of East Indian classical dance at the Kuchipudi Art Academy who will perform “Nine Planets” choreographed and directed by ‘Kalaratna’ Sujata Vinjamuri.

WBR is proud to announce Jackie Joyner-Kersee, American Olympic Gold medalist from East St. Louis, is an honored guest at the 2015 benefit performance of the Kuchipudi  Art Academy of Dance.

Wildlife Rescue Center's Annual OPEN HOUSE

Sustainable Backyard Tour to include WBR’s back yard and the native plant garden St. Louis Audubon’s Bring Conservation Home program has established. Learn how you can create an environment which encourages birds and pollinators to frequent your backyard.
